yes.. Dawkins doesn't have any arguments against god in this video. That's because this video isn't about god or atheism. It's about why we can't intuitively understand the worlds of the very small, large, and fast. it has absolutely nothing to do with "An atheist's call to arms"

Nonsense. I'm an atheist, but I have my eyes still open and I know that ethics doesn't seem to be very interesting for so-called 'normal people'. Those folks are just animals, whose instincts are limited by social customs invented to keep society in order. They want to eat, drink, have sex and being a part of a group. Studying wouldn't improve anything. Intelligence is sth you are born with, you do not obtain it by reading any books.

Richard Dawkins has always been a hero of mine and watching this video any open-minded individual can see why. Dawkins is not only insanely intelligent and rational but also a necessary polarizing figure in our time. Those charlatans who seek to leech power and money from the vulnerable must be shuddering with fear and awe at the sheer supremacy of secularism and increasing support and acceptance of atheism.

Concerning Dawkins: can you give me any example of argument for non-existence of anything? Non-existence is not to be proved, as the saying (from the circle of Warsaw-Lvov School) goes. One can only proove that some entity is improbable or contradictory in itself, ergo it cannot exist. In our universe existence of God is highly improbable, ergo we can assume with 99% certainty that he is not up there. Heavens are empty.

Now go to Holland and Czech Republic, go to Sweden nad Finland, no religion in school, so deeply secular and see these never ending bloody civil wars, holy wars, religious fanaticism. Similarly, becoming a moral person requires deep reflection, ergo silly folk will never be moral, with or without religion.
But its nothing but a speculation. I have seen secular societies, where common folks unable to perform deep reflection are irreligious, but they see no reason to start behaving badly, only because they dont believe in spy-camera in heaven. It is a fact, crime rate is very low in eg. secular Finland or Denmark. Sam Harris' puts it clearly in Letter to a Christian Nation

mieszkochow Bible ___ I'm far closer to Christ than to modern religious institutions but I still agree with the Vaticans criticisms that narrowly literal intepretations of the Bible are wrong, and I still believe that the people who wrote the Bible were inspired by God, although they were still fallible and that people of good will and heart can catch the true spirit of the Bible and learn a lot from it, so destructive and fanatical atheists should take this up with Bible literalists.

Well said Hitchinian. i feel like we need to seek out, bond with, and look out for our fellow athiest/ rational neighbors and friends. Like religious folk I guess. So as a species we stand a chance against ourselves.

Pakistan and India is not a land problem. It was one, united country before Gandhi, they split because of religious war. In Israel they fight because land has religious significance for'em. Its a Fact.
Counting marxist countries is not an argument, since there was/is as many religious countries with similiar homocidal stories.
It is about dogma and rationality. Stalinist Russia was a country of dogma, not of critical thinking. Every dogma - marxist or christian - is similarly bad.

Either you accept whole Bible, or you have some citerion to decide which is literal (I guess you think that Jesus' resurrection was a fact) and which is not (Joshua and Jericho). Either you take all moral commandments seriously (spanking kids) or you reject all of 'em; either you have a criterion to decide which is ok which is not or pick and choose. EIther Bible is true Word of God or it is fallible, and you have criterion to decide which is true, which isnt

mieszkochow you have criterion to decide which is true, which isnt ___ You're right, I do have a criterion decide which is true - MY HEART AND MY SPIRITUAL SENSITIVITY AND MY FAITH, but I wouldn't expect you to know too much about those things, so please don't dictate to me what I can understand and what I can't, and think instead of filling that empty space in your head with some spiritual sensitivity and open your mind and heart to Einstein's "music of the spheres" and "Supreme Spirit".

It doesn't have to do anything with religion. It's only about antagonistic nations living too close to each other. And, of course, the stupidity of their people and especially the governments.

Because they obey the law which is becoming more and more rigid in EU. There are far too many regulations, bureaucracy is too great and people perhaps don't believe in any spy-camera in heaven nowadays, but they don't have to - we have cameras peering at us everywhere. No imaginary God means state playing as Big Brother. When people don'tpray to any supernatural powers, they ask their governments for things like security, rights, etc. Paradoxically without religion people are less free.
