alright, I'll rephrase it: I really don't like this, I think it's ridiculous. honestly all they're doing is walking around, spinning, shaking their butts and swaying their arms. I really don't understand why it's called a dance, they're barely doing anything, much less anything that requires any effort. and no I don't know much about Brazilian culture but don't call me sweetie or tell me to get a life, when you're posting comments on youtube as well

Lia you're entitled to your own oppinion, I'm fine with that. Now yes that's a dance whether you like it or not, It's part of the culture! I also hate what the Ballroom folks have done with all the Latin dances, they murdered it but still calling,"Samba", Tango, Salsa etc. by the way brazilians are the most sexy and beautiful people in the World because they are not afraid of their sexuality nor their bodies!

who said anything about ballroom in the first place? I didn't even mention it. don't decide to take out your ranting on me about what has been done to the latin dances in ballroom. I'm Mexican myself, and obviously that's not Brazilian, but I LOVE the sexiness and attitude brought by talented dancers to the floor. but personally brazilian samba for whatever reason fails to show any of this. whatever, it is what it is.

I'm a dancer who's done a wide range of dances (no not just ballroom and latin, also flamenco, jazz, tap, hip hop, modern, ballet) so I'm not completely talking out of my ass here. so yes, call me brainless, cuz obviously I don't have a clue about dancing. oh yes, I'm jealous of them and that's why I hate this dance -_- you're quite insightful. learn how to spell "bitch" and "opinion," since personal attacks and completely irrelevant things are the only way you know how to "discuss" things.

Let me just say first of all...meow. Jeez. And although I do not think it's a good or mature practice to treat people badly (even on the internet) Loop is right. I am a life long dancer, and like you, I thought Samba looked easy. I was wrong-you have to work very hard to keep your body meticulously aligned while presenting yourself with confidence and style. It's like aerobic belly dancing.

Hi Lia,
I have to agree with Ruby on this one. I think that if you actually took the time to take a samba class, you'd be able to appreciate its intricacies & the physical demands it places on the bodies. It's got to be one of the best ways to lose weight because it's definitely a workout, & loads of fun. I'm not just saying it based on my personal biases as a samba competitor, but I have yet to meet anyone who doesn't like it after they try it. Looping doesn't make for a very good advocate.

I understand how you feel about samba, but it's no reason to resort to using ethnic slurs and putting down an entire ethnicity of people just because they don't like samba. It reflects poorly on you as a Brazilian; and to be fair, if I had to judge samba based on this video, I wouldn't be impressed either. I've also seen you make awful comments about other dancers on other samba posts & wonder if you're even the least bit talented. Why don't you post a video of your own and back up your words?

oh well, there are a lot of people who try to be like Brazilians out there, Big Mistake, anyone can tell the difference LOL, Brazilian women are unique , besides they grow up dancing samba,that's why i love brazil they are full of energy, charismatic and friendly,did i mention "Gorgeous"?? I'm not really a fan of Brazilian samba [especially this performance of it] but I can understand that it's a workout and that one would have to work hard at the moves and such. I am a dancer, not a Brazilian samba dancer, but I know the work that goes into dance. I'm sure it's tough work and maybe I'll try it, but right now this isn't really encouraging me too. Loopy's ignorant babbling doesn't help either. whatever, it's just my opinion that this performance isn't very pleasing to the eye.

I totally agree. Anyone who has to make a judgement about samba based on this video can't be blamed for how she feels. The dancers lacked finesse and technique. Very disappointing. The arms are some of the worst I've ever seen in samba. I could go on picking at this video, but there is a character limit to these messages. I think you'd be interested to know that two of the best samba dancers I know are Mexican. They're Brazilian-trained and it shows. They are phenomenal. Interesting, isn't it?

There are many different styles of Brazilian dance, and even samba. With the similar samba styles seen here, it's very difficult to manage the syncopation of fast paced samba with heavy custumes, 6 inch platfom shoes, and still remain graceful without falling over, getting "off beat," or fainting from exhaustion. If you were a trained passista, you would experience the challenge. But if you don't have that experience, it's easy to judge the dance in the manner you do.

There are many dances, in the world. And each dance may have it's own regional styles. But it's a waste of time to degrade someone's dance just becuase you don't like to do it. I honestly dislike ballroom, but I RESPECT the people who invest their time doing it. It is STILL thier art and they have invested their energies in something very beautiful.
I LOVE BRAZILIAN SAMBA. Always have. Always will. It is beautiful in my eyes and heart. I don't wrestle with what I dislike. I embrace what I do.
