For the co-sponsored CGD-Brookings seminar How the Millennium Development Goals Are Unfair to Africa, Professor William Easterly presented a controversial analysis suggesting that most African countries' predicted "failure" to meet the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in 2015 will result more from the design of the Goals than from unique deficiencies in Africa's development process. Those involved in the MDG campaign routinely state that "Africa will miss all the MDGs." While Africa will miss MDGs, Easterly argues that it will result primarily from a series of arbitrary numerical choices built into the Goals in such a way that "success" was less likely in Africa than in other regions from the beginning. The statement that "Africa will miss all the MDGs" thus paints an unfairly bleak portrait of Africa.

| It's nice to see that people are so interested in obtaining the MDG's in all developing nations and not only Africa. Ignorance will take you nowhere in life. If you simply see this as a matter of race between white and black, you have so much catching up to do in life. Spread knowledge, not hate nor ignorance. I suggest learning about the United Nations and exactly what the video is referring to before posting your opinion. People are corrupt everywhere, not only in the US, not only blacks. |

Sure you can make some people "smarter" through education... but they will still be limited by their intelligence... particularly when it comes to the harder subjects such as math and science. It is a complete waste of tax money. Which is exactly what college entrance exams show. Add to that a propensity for violence and they are hopeless... many of them. |
