Don't like it? Well Same here. Some viewers wanted to see it so I put it on. The last true Camel Trophy was in 1996. Don't ask me why the FreeLanders where used instead of the Discoverys or Defender's, all I know is that is that they stuffed up and even the G4 challenge is not as good has the Real Camel Trophy also too Camel Trophy is a Land Rover Event not for AMC's.

I don't like it also to me this 1998 is more like a TV reality show spiced up with a bit 4WD activity. I lived in Indonesia the country that taste the real Camel Trophy for at least 3 times in '81 Sumatera,'88 Sulawesi,and '96 Kalimantan, last week i attended the flag off for Indonesian Adventure with 23 specially prepared and selected Land Rover participated and from the enthusiast i met there i start to missed the old real Camel Trophy.

Because having competition like the Marlboro Race, Camel thought they should also offer some sport like kanu, bike, and all this sports stuff. Well, it was the last CAMEL TROPHY driven by car. RIP CAMEL TROPHY, you were good using Defender, RR and Disco.

I like adventure racing and I like 4WD too, however I don't understand why such a great 4WD adventure (the real CAMEL TROPHY as it used to be) have to be spoiled like that!!!! I suppose every good thing ends soon or later. RIP CAMEL TROPHY!

The last one! We will miss it. Who knows Landrover will do somethig different for real offroaders!! This one did not focus on real offroad! It was more of a multi-challange. What the offroader whant is pure OFFROAD, what they know best! Keep us informed, please!!!

The freelanders suck balls. either the Disco or the defender. truly if it was me i would just have all defenders when the camel was still going on. not that the Disco's are not good but they had small tires on them and not much ground clearance. The defenders are the true original land rovers.

I thought I'd add a bit of "constructive comment": Freelander = pussywagon.
Also Land Rover claim they left the CT because the event had strayed away from dedicated off roading and more towards adventure sports like kayaking, ski-ing, cycling etc. Have they had a close look at their new G4 Challenge recently? Very hypocritical. I appreciate that CT was not always enviro
nmentaly friendly - but I still feel there is a need for an event that portrays what their line-up can really do off-road.

freelanders aint really a 4x4??take it you havnt driven one offroad thn.i have used my STANDARD 3year old offroad several times and believe me it punches above its weight.ok wont compete with a defender and disco n rangerover will beat it too in extreme but its not an extreme motor.weighs half as much as others but i have gone up mud slopes leaving discos stuck behind me.hill descent control and traction control keeps it going when most of your competition are far behind.wana knock it?try it 1st

The title Camel Trophy should not be used for this, what a farce, a joke and nothing but a watered down shadow of its former self. Plunged to new depths of shitty sporting events, getting from venue to venue in a car that should be used only to do the shopping.
