The referee never has to officially wait for the players to be in position. On the kickoff he must only make sure that they're on their own half, and not in the center circle. I never said the referee HAS to wait, but he SHOULD have waited. The keeper wasn't delaying the game, he jogged straight back to his goal. The only time I restart play when a player isn't in position is when the player isn't hustling to his/her position. Again, it's not mandatory, but it's common sense to wait 5 secs.

The players weren't in position. The goal keeper is a player, and he wasn't in his position in the goal. The point I'm making is while it's not mandatory for the referee to wait, it's courtesy for him to. The keeper wasn't showboating or delaying the game, he ran straight back to his position, and was not given enough time to get there. According to the laws 1-17 the referee did nothing wrong, but according to law 18(common sense), he messed up.

I can agree with that, good explanation. The keeper did not appear to run to the sideline or corner flag to celebrate, at least not on the video. Team mates sure should have covered him as well - if Bayern considers GK for PK then they have to practice restarts. Thanks for the exchange of soccer knowledge. Funny video!
