we dont want this government we have rite now.. its doing what no other country democratic would do rite now. Look at what they've done to the Star Ferry Pier and Queen's pier just to reclaim that piece of sea.

richman, look at what china has done and is doing to hong kong. The ppl in legco and the CE are CHOSEN by chinese officals. i.e. the Star Ferry incident RIGHT after the night it shut down, they fenced the whole place and started wrecking it. Even though there was a meeting going on ABOUT preserving the pier. After totally demolishing it they aren't even reclaiming that part of land yet! WTH was the point then? Just to provoke the citizens of HK? thats what i think they're trying to do.

Totally agree with you vincentbadminton. The incompetence and unaccountability of the government lead to the star ferry incident. I really can't believe they knocked down the clock tower, for "progress". There is need to "progress", but also a need to preserve what little history and culture HK has. Next, maybe they will bulldoze the Peak.

lol the peak probably made enough profit so the government couldnt have cared less, i mean rite now all they care about is profit. and if u watched the "TVB shichuen chairty show" or sth u'd have seen the head of hk's ECONOMY office make a speech about the earthquake... i mean seriously...

n u saw what the crowd was cheering about when the touch same over to hk.. "Go china!!" i mean wth?... HK has a team as well., but its just that our team is the reject list of the BJ team ==" and also the government is complaining that theres a lack of staff within the hospital authority, n then they go send 2 teams of ppl over.. (not that they shouldnt help..) . (sorry for ranting)

The National anthem of Hong Kong.
But I think the Hong Kong we once beloved has already gone after 1997. I'm not saying about political or economy, but the social atmosphere and the feeling of living in HK.....It's just not the same before and after 1997.

hkspiceboy, I agree with your point of view. You mention the social atmosphere, yet it is really related to political and economic conditons. For example, the influx of mainland immigrants, who just want to tap the soical sources offered by HK taxpayers, are to blame.....

Sometimes, the change just exists in people's heart. I can't believe the gap before 7/1/97 and after that was so large. CCP is powerful, but not superman. They are not able to change the social and cultural atomosphere deposited in Hongkong for over 100 years. This just doesn't make sense.
