Billy Joel has written and performed some of the best music in America for over thirty years, and this song is as good as any of them. Moving, in every sense of the word. the lyric, the amazing gospel feel, the vocal- Lord have mercy, this is a great, great song. Those of you too immature to get it can watch American Idle; hey, there's a style of music for everyone. Is this a great country, or what? Without American music, in all its various glories, the world would be a poorer place.

This song brings back a lot of memories for me, too. This song came out when I was in about 3rd grade, and back then, I could've popped in my River of Dreams cassette and listened to this song over and over again, and I'd have never gotten tired of it.
Awhile back, one of my best friends told me that he had heard it on the radio, and he remembers it because he and I used to listen to it all the time. It's amazing how much music can tie memories together.
