Fox News took a Daily Show critique about how Bush foreign policy is overstretching the resources of the US military and turned it into a clip about how it would be funny if old people were in the army.
This video is another example of how Fox News always seems to edit for time in a way that makes Democrats look worse and Bush and the GOP look better. You can see the entire August 3, 2006, broadcast of "The Daily Show" from which I took a clip for my video on the Comedy Central website at: http:

I honestly don't think they were trying to leave out the rest of the critique for the sake of Bush's image. I think they were just trying to keep it brief. Besides, is it honestly the media's job to critique? I thought they were simply supposed to present news.

In a time when news is actually talking point regurgitation, "The Daily Show" and "Real Time" always swing the spotlight where it needs most to shine. These COMEDY shows tell the truth about issues of self-righteous repression like Intelligent Design and Praying The Gay Away. And they DON'T make it sound like there are two rational sides when there AREN'T. Keep it up, Jon, Bill and your writers. For a comic take on society's repression of homosexuality, do a YouTube search for "MAYBE GAY RAY.

I think they edited for time and to tie it in to their story. What bothers me more about Fox News is the angry self-righteousness of some of their reporters on that show (e.g. see videos on the Palin photo on the cover of Newsweek), as if their assumptions about people and their actions are facts. For the Newsweek cover, they said that the close-up of Palin on Newsweek was disrespectful becaused it showed the "flaws" on her face clearer than a "regular" photo would have. I kid you not.

I honestly don't get what you're trying to prove with these clips. Fox news has a conservative agenda and employs spin doctors to soften the impact of the liberal media while amplifying their own? Most people get that already... and those that don't will laugh off your attempt at uncovering these cracks as vain and puerile. If you want to discredit fox, you'll have to go after bigger fish than this.

you know, normally my answer to your questions is a firm "yes" - but this time I have to say that I think Fox News chose not only the highlight, but the clip that worked for their point. I have a hard time seeing it as a deliberate. And either way you spin it, Stewart is getting his message spread - and I do think the criticism over military policy was evident when Fox News played the clip.
